A little box, using Stampin Up product

I just LOVE making things like boxes.  Cards are wonderful fun and my mainstay, but containers, boxes, bags, and things like mini albums, just add to the fun.   Giving a little gift in a box you made yourself is just so special.
Here is another look:

This one just takes on sheet of paper. I used a brand new Designer Series Paper pack, Modern Medley.
You can get this one tomorrow after 12pm MST, that's when the catalog goes live!  WOOO HOOOO.

And yet another angle.

So, to get the effect I wanted I did have to use some retired ribbons just because the new ones are not available to me until WHEN????????????  Tomorrow, FRIDAY MAY 31ST!
So besides the retired ribbon and the brand new Modern Medley, which is BTW all black and white! Love it.  I used:

Colors:
Black
Real red

Supplies:
Sizzlits Large Delicate Doilies  (126999)
Basic Black Card Stock (121045)
Hearts A Flutter Stamp set (131922) Wood  (129252) Clear
Hearts A Flutter Framelits (130159)

So, what do you think? Should I see if I can make a digi file from this box and post is?  I hope I have given you some ideas. Thanks for stopping by.

Mojo Monday 295 SU birthday card

Here we are, another Mojo Monday. I anxiously look forward to getting up on Monday mornings now, Mojo monday is partly responsible for that, but being retired doesn't hurt either.

As much as possible I'm using my DSP pads, these are retiring and new ones will be out in a few days. I have loved these, and I sure hate to see them go, but some of the colors have changed and we have some new patterns in the new pads. Meanwhile, I have found them to be an extremely cost effective addition to cards and I love them.
I used the Make a wish set for the birthday cake, I love this cake, it came out in the Spring Catalog and is staying in the new one.

The embossing folder is in the new catalog so a sneak peek for you, it's an interesting folder, you get a different but equally neat look no matter which side of the paper you use after embossing.

On with the basics.
Colors:
Very Vanilla
Cherry Cobbler
Crumb Cake

Supplies:
Make a Wish  (129222) clear (131928) Wood
Regals Collect Designer Series Pad  (117154)
Modern Mosic embossing folder  (129984) available May 31
Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding (120992)
Sentiment-Petite Pairs (122497) clear (128706) wood

This card is going to my grand daughter in law, her birthday is just a few days away. Gotta say tho, scares the heck out of me that at anytime I could be great-grandma! Shudder.

I have a question for you.  I'd really like to know what your favorite color combos are, seems like sometimes it's hard to decide. I have my favorite colors, but It's nice to other color combos for other people and it can be difficult.
Also, after June 3rd, look here for some great buys on retired DSP and Stamp sets.

Stampin Up Graduation Card

The second of my 2 grad cards, done in the college colors. Very simple I think.

I used Whisper White for the card base, then Night Of Navy and the  Mosic  embossing folder. (new catty item)
I stamped the sentiment on white using the Word Play stamp set, retiring as of May 30th.
I stamped again in red and cut out the arrow.
Glued on the Real Red ribbon, retired.  Used the smaller  Labels collection framelit to cut out the sentiment, the a larger one in red.

I hope this gives you some ideas, please leave a comment and let me know what kind of cards you would like to see. Super simple? Easy but more involved? ect. Thanks for stopping by.

Celebrate, a Graduation card

I had two grandsons graduate this year, one from college ( that one has already scored himself a job) and one from High School.

While I'm quite sure there wasn't a whole lot of looking at the card or caring it was hand made, after all he was after the goodies inside. LOL.   I still wanted something neat.

Whisper White, Basic black and the wonderful, glittery, Glimmer paper. You will love this paper if you haven't yet tried it. The glitter doesn't brush off.
I stamped on the back using the stars from Simply Stars, a new stamp set for the 2013/2014 catalog.
Then I cut them out.  Using black I cut a piece of CS and used the scallop border punch, placed a little strip of the silver glimmer paper across it and stamped the sentiment from Best Of Birthdays.(132929) clear set. You can purchase the Best of Birthdays until March of 2014, the stars will be available on May 31.
That's it, pretty simple and any colors will work.  Probably should have posted this as one of my 10min cards huh?

Please let me know how you like this one and if you enjoy the 10 min series on wed's, I'd love to know.
Thanks for stopping by.

Good morning!  It's a beautiful wed morning here in the desert of AZ. We are still in spring so while it will get quite warm later today, the nights and mornings are nice and cool.

I also used all of the new Incolors for this coming year, I'll be using them a lot, I just love them. And they all work together so beautifully.
I stamped my sentiment first, then stamped on the doilies and added a bow (optional of course).

Crisp Cantaloupe
Pistachio Pudding
Supplies:
Happy Day stamp set (130294) Wood (130297) Clear

MojoMonday 294

Here we are, another Mojo Monday Sketch! I love mondays, I hop out of bed, make coffee (nothing comes before coffee) and off to my room to see what this weeks sketch looks like.
Everyone has favorites, this kind of sketch is mine, fairly simple.
Here is what it looks like, and please feel free to join in, the more the better.

Anyway, before I tell you all the important info on my card, you just have to see this. 2 of my kitties just love sitting on my keyboard tray and if I don't move it, the keyboard.  Here is what I saw trying to get my card up this morning.

This is Shadow, she is saying, mommy, let me on your keyboard.  Makes it a tad difficult to do anything when I do, and she will lay there for hours.
On to the details of the card.
Colors:
Very Vanilla
Tempting Turquiose
Daffodil Delight
Supplies:
Embellished Events (126497) clear (131984) Wood
Brights Collection Designer series Paper pad (117155) Also retiring
Daffodil Delight Seam binding (125583)
Scallop Edge Border punch (119882)
Rhinestones (119246)
I just have to say, I have no idea where this color combo came from, I was wanting to use up some of my retiring product, and these just jumped into my hand.  At first I thought them might be a little bright to use together, but they just scream happy, don't they?

Thanks for stopping by, I hope I've at least given you a little inspiration.

SU Birthday card

Just a quick birthday card today. I have 3 grandsons that were all born within one year. It's great for them, they have always enjoyed each others company whenever possible to all be together.
The oldest of these 3 is having a birthday at the end of this month, boy cards are always harder, but I think the sentiment says it all, don't you?

We moved to AZ just over 3 years ago, so are 450miles away now, so we don't get to go to all the birthday parties and such, but they are all growing up, turning 15 now.   While growing up is necessary, I sure do miss them as little guys.

So, using some retired product, some current product and a new color for the upcoming SU year.
Crisp Cantaloupe is one of the new incolors. And I am in love with all the new incolors! Totally yummy, all of them.   I paired it with Midnight Muse, I am so hoping we get to keep Midnight Muse, it's last years new incolor so we have one more year of it if they don't.

I used Comfort Cafe DSP-126898
Labels Collection Framelits - 125598
Midnight must satin stitched ribbon -126847
The SAB Vintage Verses sentiments, no longer available

Whisper White
So Saffron
Crisp Cantaloupe
Midnight Muse

Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge 159

Challenges give us a way to stretch ourselves, it can help you to do cards in ways you might not have before.  Maybe different colors then you are drawn to normally, or in this case a sketch to follow. I didn't stay completely true to the sketch, but I did follow it to a point.

I have to say, I haven't been feeling well today, and did one card already for the challenge. I needed a card for a grandson's birthday and it worked out well for that, but really not for the sketch, so I started over.

Have I said it before? I am in love with the new Smoky Slate color! The new catalog isn't even available to order from yet and I can't stop using it. It's great to be a demo!!!  If you would like to get the same benefits, feel free to sign up on my Stampin Up blog site. You will be joining a wonderful and very large online group of  Demo's, we chat all the time and always have someone to run something by.

So, for this one I used Smoky Slate, Basic Gray, Marina Mist.
For supplies I used Smoky Slate for the base card, Neutrals DSP, then the Marina Mist in the Subtles DSP.
The stamp is is a hostess set, One in a Million and I cut it out with the Petite Curly Label punch.

For a final touch I used rhinestones.
Thanks for Stopping by.

10min Fast and Fabulous card for May15.

Here is my wed 10 min card for today.  I decided to use the new Smoky Gray for a base. And Midnight Muse for the contrast, just 2 colors.
Layered the midnight muse piece just a bit smaller then the base card, the cut the white a bit smaller then the Midnight Muse.

Tip, if using ribbon, leave your layers unattached until ready for the ribbon to be done. I put a piece of scrap paper on part of the white and stamped using Smoky Gray and the florish from Elements of Style, stamp the sentiment, Friendly Phrases.

Wrap the ribbon, Midnight Muse 3/4" Stitched Satin  ribbon.

Stamp and cut Butterfly out of White, you can use one that fits one of the punches or fussy cut or do as I did and use a Framelit, I cut top and bottom off the framelit.

Layer butterfly using Stampin Dimentionals. Or if you like, you could just stamp the Butterfly just below the ribbon.

Colors:
Smoky Gray
Whisper White
Midnight Muse
Supplies:
Elements of Style (120045 Clear)
Best of Butterflies (133345 Clear)
Friendly Phrases (126151 Clear)
Label Coll Framelits (125598)

PALs Blog Hop 2013

Thank you for joining us for the May Pals Blog Hop and our annual retirement party! It's time to say goodbye to stamps and accessories that will not be available in the new  2013-14 Stampin' Up! catalog. Although it's always sad to see wonderful products retire, it is exciting to think about all of the new products that will soon be available. So enjoy the farewell tour for our favorite retiring products - and remember you have until June 3rd to order from the retiring product lists.

You should have just left stop number 9 on the Pals Hop - Debra Simonis at Deb's Stampin' Grounds. If so, you are in the right spot.  If you get off track, the full blog lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.

I decided I wanted to make something out of something that I normally would throw away.  I am see a lot of reclaimed items lately and it does make good sense to reuse when possible.
Don't laugh now, but this is a Tucks Pad container. I have tons of them, and my husband won't let me throw any of them away, he is so sure there must be something we can do with them.
This is my choice, it does make a very nice container.
The striped paper is from the Neutrals collection DSP. I love all of the collections of these papers, and I've used the heck out of them, but with new colors coming in, the pads have changed so out with these and I can't wait to see how the new ones look.
The floral and flip side of the floral with the blue Pool Party pattern are Comfort Cafe DSP, and of course also being discontinued.
The ribbon is from an SAB pack, really hate to see it go, I just love this narrow shiny ribbon.
The flower on top is Creped Filter paper, so much fun to play with.  I used water with some drops of Pool Party reinker to color the sheets after cutting them out with the Big L Fun die.  I used 2 different shapes from that die.
I used the one inch square punch for the insert for the tag and the discontinued Double Petal punch for the envelope.
I have some close ups for you.

Now, if any of the discontinued product are items you would like, be sure to order by May 30th.  I hope I have given you some ideas.  On with the hop.

Mojo Monday 293 and a new SU Sneak Peak

Welcome, we had a fun sketch waiting on us this morning from Mojo Monday, I thought it perfect for another sneak peek into the new Stampin Up 2013-2014 catalog. Remember, it's not available to order from until May 31st.
You are seeing some of the new incolors.  Baked Brown Sugar, Crisp Cantaloupe, Coastal Cabana along with Very Vanilla.

The border graphic is from the new Mosaic Madness,  I thought it was just the right touch.
Butterfly is from Best of Butterflies set, one of the 25th anniversary sets. One is issued each month and so far they have been awesome. I used the Elegant Butterfly punch to punch first one from Coastal Cabana, then stamp and punch the top one.
The sentiment is from Word Play, I'm sorry to see that one go, it has some really neat sentiments in it.

So, here is the sketch.
Really cute, don't you think?

New Challenge card, some sneak peeks

This is my submission for the Pixel Mavin Digi Challenge. They recently opened it up to other types. I would have loved to make a mothers day card, but since my mom passed long ago, I made a birthday card instead. I have lots of those coming up.

I used a combo of new and outgoing product.  I have to say, I just love this Smoky Gray, don't you? I paired it with Pretty In Pink which is leaving as of May 30th. And some DSP from the Subtles collect which is also being changed this time around.

The sentiment is from a new set, Remembering Your Birthday, loving this set and am thinking it is quickly becoming a favorite.

I just used a selection of ribbons that I felt added something to the look. Baja Breeze seam binding is leaving us, the color itself will be gone. The Pretty in Pink dotted ribbon also gone. I used Delicate Doilies for the bottom round, 1 3/4" scallop punch for the DSP layer and the 1" punch and Collage Curios then added an SAB button.

The challenge was to use ribbon, click on the link in the right side bar and you can see what everyone else did too.
Thanks for stopping by.

Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge # 158

It's time for another PPA color challenge. Please feel free to play along, it's great fun.
Here are the colors:

And here is what I did:

I love Pool Party, it's one of my favorites, so I went with it for the most part.   I used the Bird Builder punch for the leaves,  Embellished Events for the flower stamp, then I used the Chevron embossing folder.
The ribbon I'm sorry to say is from the SAB, I was hoping it might come over to the new catalog, I really like this little skinny ribbon.  The Bitty butterfly punch is new but available from the Spring Catalog and staying in the new big catalog. I used just a bit of Comfort Cafe Designer series paper for that butterfly.
The Petite Curly Label punch has stuck around in the new catalog from the spring catty too.

Click on the link to the PPA to see what everyone else did.

Fast and Fabulous 10 min card May 8

Sooo simple, and elegant.  Crumb Cake base, Pretty In Pink, Whisper White.
On your white piece use your White Craft ink pad or you can use the VersaMark pad, and white embossing powder. I used Elements of Style's large floral stamp on this one. It's retiring so if you want it order it before May 31.

Heat the embossing powder, tip, to heat emboss make sure the embossing get shiny, but don't heat too long or it will disappear again.

Then use the Pretty in Pink pad and a sponge to sponge on ink over the embossing are around the card.
Stamp sentiment and apply to PIP card then to base.
