GDP#072, Sending Love, Valentine card

I was stuck on red and white for my valentines lately.  Mostly because the DSP stack was so pretty.
But today I have  different colors for you.  Here I used Sweet Sugarplum and Pink Pirouette with a bit of Pool Party.

I do love florishes, and usually I die cut them since I can, but for this I wanted the florish to act as part of the background with the splatters.

I'm submitting this to the GDP today, they have a CASE the designer going on.
Here is the details on that, and go here to play along.

I hope you have enjoyed todays project.

Sweet! A Valentine card

I've been playing with some new ideas. The base card was inspired by a card by Patty Bennett, but most of what I did was my own.  I used Whisper White thick CS for my base, then cut a piece of Real red 5 1/2" x 4 1/8".  I have cut my base length wise at 4 1/4".  I use this method a lot, I just happen to really like it, it opens at the bottom.

My next layer is a piece of DSP from Sending Love DSP Stack with an embossed piece of Vellum over the top. Those 2 pieces are 5 1/2"x 3 1/4".  Vellum is hard to glue, it always seems to show through, even when using the tape especially for vellum.   In this case I attached it across the top and used my ribbon to hide it.

I used the Falling Petals embossing folder on the vellum.  Then I layered my doily, the heart from Sunshine wishes dies, and the Sweet from the Sunshine  wishes dies as well.

The stitched satin ribbon is retired in the White, but there are other colors still available.

I hope you enjoyed.

Sealed with love, Valentine card

I don't usually sent Valentine cards. I make one for hubby, and that is usually it. But this year, I've decided to send them to a few good friends who I know would love to get one and a grandson or two. And who knows.  This set is just so much fun!

The die that creates the border hearts is so unusual.  It just begs to be used.  I've seen lots of other ways to use it as well, so many.

I combined the tin graphics with the little stitched square framelit for this card and of course the Sending Love DSP stack.  I know you guys are all finding and making all kinds of neat cards and other items with the new sets.

I do hope I have helped a little with some inspiration.

Valentine cards part 2, Sending Love

My #2 card with this set, I had such a great time today playing.   My base card is Real Red, I layered that with a 2"wide piece of the DSP at the right hand side of the card. I did leave a small amount of the edge of the red CS showing on all sides, the Length is 5 1/4".

then I cut my piece of white about 3 1/2" wide and cut using the long die in the set. Then I stamped over the white with this cute little stamp, added a piece of white with the sentiment layered over a piece of red save width, but showing a tiny bit of color top and bottom.  Cut my little heart and used it to "hold in place".
Hope you enjoy this, my second card.

Be my valentine, part 1

Wow, I took a look at Pinterest today and I see why it's loaded with cards from this set! It's soooo much fun to play with. So many ideas running through my head.   I got 3 cards done today, all red and white, but there are a couple other colors I am dieing to try out with it, they will have to come later.

My first one using the Sending Love DSP stack, (6x6").  Actually all 3 of these use that stack. I also got into the gold glimmer paper, just too much fun!  I love these heart dies!  The one with the raised edges I couldn't figure out until I actually tried it, too cool.

I started with Real read CS for my base card, cutting it down lengthwise at 4 1/4", then scored at 5 1/2".  Put my white CS on sized at 4 1/8"x 5 1/2", so just a bit of the sides showed from the red base.

Then I cut a small piece of the DSP about 1 1/8"wide by the length. Added the tiny piece of glimmer paper butted up to the DSP.  I used my Aqua pen very carefully and lightly picking up a bit of red from my ink pad.  Whisper White does not take water will, you could use Watercolor paper if you prefer. When it dried I cut and added my hearts and the little sentiment at the bottom.

Remember, right now if you place a $50 order you choose a gift from the SAB brochure for free, and you can do that for each $50 you spend.  Spend $150 and also get host credit on top of that. Lots of free stuff right now.

Be on the lookout for the other 2 cards, coming up soon.

Happy Birthday, CFC challenge #164

This is the first time for this challenge for me. I was in the mood for a challenge today and went to hunt one up.
I have 2 girls with birthdays on the same day 4 yrs apart, they both LOVE purple, so purple it is. Rich Razzleberry for this one.

I have not used the set before, I think I got it just as the Holiday catalog was coming out and after that it was holiday all the way.   It's a fun bundle. For this card, I didn't use the die set, but I do love how the some dies match stamp set and you actually get extra die pieces that are totally different.  It gives you so many ways to use the set.  and this set, Falling Flowers, is just like that.

I'm trying out the new watercolor pencils here, there is a set of 13 pencils in this set of SU colors.
I did a scribble with the pencil before embossing the Happy Birthday, then afterward I ran over the color a bit with an Aqua Brush.
Here is the Cas-ual Friday challenge site.

A Birthday card for GDP068

This week at Global Design Project they have a CASe the designer.  I was taken with the color scheme.    And I needed a card for a grandson.  I am regretting a couple of stamp sets I didn't get right now. I could really have used one of them.  My grandson is quite the all around guy, into computers, and classic cars and recently got himself a motorcycle.

But he will have to make do with balloons.  But I think it looks good. Clean and masculine.  I love the banner stamp and die sets, they sure add a lot to a simple card.  My favorite banner stamps are this set, Birthday banners. I love the stitched look to the lines.

I decided on Island Indigo for my blue, I've been using Night of Navy a lot recently and have left my poor Island Indigo all alone and unused.  Then I remembered I had this corrugated paper left over that has retired and it seemed just perfect!

Colors this time are: Island Indigo, Whisper White, Calypso Coral and Basic Black.
Come on over and see what the team did, they always do an awesome job.

2017 first card of the year

I think I'm finally recovering from Christmas. I haven't sat at my stamp desk in quite a while. I have just been burned out some and I did have my girls come and spend some time with us.  But I am ready to move on.

This is for the husband of a friend who passed.   I made it using a brand new set called High Tide. It's in the new Occasions catalog for 2017.   Ordering for that catalog and the SAB catalog starts Jan 4, 2017.   For each $50 you spend in any active catalog, you can choose something from the SAB one for free.   This will end March 31st.

This was  very quick and simple. It kind of made itself.  Can't you just see yourself standing on the sand, watching the sea and birds? It makes me feel calm.

The sentiment if from Suite Seasons, in the Holiday catalog.
Happy New Year.   I think it's going to be a good one.
