Freshly Made Sketches #298, Just for You

Another great sketch this week over at Freshly Made Sketches. This time it's from a friend of mine, she does awesome cards and every week is an inspiration, Linda Callahan.

So, stop on over by CLICKING HERE.  And check out Linda's card and the rest of the team.

I did my rose on vellum.  I love working on vellum, it kind of disappears showing you just the design. I stamped using my Berry Burst, allowed it to dry, (this can take awhile), then flipped it over and used my Blender pen on the back side to finish coloring in.  And that is it.   Easy one today.

My colors are, Whisper White, Powder Pink, Lemon Lime Twist, Smoky Slate, and Basic black.  If I had stamped my rose in archival black, it would have dried much quicker, but you can always hit it with a bit of heat from the heat gun to help it along too.

Thinking Of You, Tic Tac Toe #007

I am totally in love with this set in the new Annual catalog, Colorful Seasons. So many things can be done with it, all year long.  I just had to try out the fall leaves.  If you look close you can see that although I die cut them, I only ran it through once and I left all the little pieces in, so you just see where they would have come out.    I tried it both ways, but the leaf was too delicate to stand up to the embossing folder with the pieces out, sure was pretty though.

The card is for the Tic Tac Toe challenge over here.

I did the right side down, diecut, floral, yellow.
Pretty simple card to make, I used the new Layered Leaves folder, ran my hard brayer over the embossing folder on the side I wanted and then run it through the Big Shot.  This is one of the new style 3D folders, they can be a little tricky to run though, so, for my machine, and they are all a little different, I didn't use a bottom clear plate, had one flap out and a clear plate on top. That works well for my machine.

My colors today are: Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron, Soft Suede and Whisper white. The ribbon I used is now retired, sorry.  I don't buy much in that color, I'm usually more of a pink and blue  kinda person.

A beach scene, and Just Add Ink #369

It's really hot here in AZ, so I've been thinking about the beach for quite a while.  I sure miss being 90min away.    This card makes me feel like I can smell the salt air and feel the cool breezes.  Sigh....

So, when JAI came up with THIS,  challenge, I just had to make an ocean card.

The chair is part of the dies that pair with Colorful Seasons.  Fabulous set, it has stamps and dies for all year round.    The ocean and birds are from High Tide, and the umbrella is from Weather together.

Since I grew up along the CA coastline, I can easily picture the ocean and the seagulls flying over head, even inland quite a way.

So, I used Sahara Sand for my base card, then using Whisper White I started by stamping my ocean, bringing it down far enough so my sand would cover it.  I then used my dobber to fill in the ocean color with Marina Mist.
I then used the land stamp for around the lighthouse in High Tide to add some color in Crumb Cake to my 1 1/2" strip of Sahara Sand, then tore the top and layered that to the bottom of my card.
Next I used a dobber and Peekaboo peach for a line of color just above the water, then did the same with So Saffron, then finished off with Marina Mist.
Added in my chair, and umbrella. I cut the curved handle part off the die cut of the umbrella handle so it could stick right into the sand.    The birds were then stamped in with black.

I really hope you enjoy. Here is the challenge.

Thanks for being a friend, FMS296

We have a fun little sketch today from FMS, a square one.  It's been a long time since I worked on a square card and this one was so easy.  I recently got my 12x12 incolor paper stack. The designs are awesome, this one being my favorite.  It comes in a stack with all 5 of the new incolors and wow did we get great colors this time.   Normally green is just NOT my favorite color, but I can't keep my hands off this Lemon Lime Twist.

So, here is the sketch, and the link to go and check out the sketch on site and see the fabulous cards the team did this week.

Birthday Delivery, Just Add Ink #366

I have no little ones anymore. My youngest grands have graduated HS this year and the older ones, 2 of whom are married, do not seem to be into having babies. But this set has so many pieces, you can do so much with it. I just thought it would be fun to do the animal march.   The bottom piece here is from the DSP pack.  Surprise tip:  The pieces of DSP have graphics that you can just die cut with the framelits. No coloring involved.   Or of course you can stamp and color your little heart out. I had to fussy but my little squirrel though, isn't he a cutie?

Here is the inside:

The little package is also die cut, but the bunny had to be fussy cut, or the die cut cake would have worked fine.
It's a simple card to make, but a fun one to receive.
So, here is the challenge:
Yup, just add A.  I had a hard time with that, so I used the A for Animals.  My colors are Whisper white and Pacific Point.
