Friendship, peek at new Occasions set, FMS#318

Yes, it's been a few days since I've posted.  It's been a bit crazy here, combine a terribly sick kitty with Christmas.  Poor little thing is still having issues so I'll have to contact the vet again tomorrow.
Freshly Made Sketches is leaving the current sketch up through the holidays, so there is plenty of time to play. Here is the sketch.
 Go here to play.

But today I had some calm time and was able to play with a new set from the Occasions catalog.  This is my favorite set from that catalog, I love how light, airy and whimsical the images and the fonts in this set are.

I don't have the whole set of Blends just yet, (SU's new alcohol markers) but I used some of the colors I do have  and sponged the yellow background in.    I wanted to just color in the long stems on this embossing folder, but I had to use the back side to do that. Well, I could have sponged on color after embossing, but I decided I liked the "wrong" side just fine.  And is it ever wrong if you like it?  I encourage you to try coloring each side of your new embossing folders and see what comes of it.

I used my Memento Black as I was using the alcohol markers, you want to use a dye based pad for  alcohol fill in and an alcohol based pad for dye based markers or water based.  It was a fairly quick, easy coloring job and so cute!

Well, Merry Christmas!

For a friend, Freshly Made Sketches #317

A brand new stamp set today. It's from the upcoming Occasions catalog that goes live Jan 3rd.  Don't miss out, along with this catalog comes the SAB (Sale A Bration), you'll get free choices for your spending.   This set is called Charming Cafe.  I didn't use them, but there is a wonderful set of dies that matches this stamp set.  One kind of neat thing you can do is cut both the outside edge and inside edge of this flower frame. I choose to white emboss and color in using my Blends markers, and then put my sentiment inside the frame.

Go here to check out the challenge.

Stampin Up, Sneak Peek at new SAB Stamp set, FMS#316

My Christmas cards are ready to go out, so I decided I could play with a couple of the new sets coming out in Jan.  This one is called Heartfelt Blooms.  That is one stamp and it's gorgeous. It's an SAB (Sale a Bration) stamp set.
To get this one or any of the many sets in the SAB brochure, you just spend $50, for each $50 you can choose something from that brochure. We have a new catagory this year that you can choose for spending a higher amount. It's up to you, but it's the very best time to buy and end up with lots of freee goodies.
If you spend the base amount to get host credit,$150, you choose up to 3 sets from the SAB brochure and you also get to choose anything out of the Annual Catalog worth up to $15.

I used Soft Sky, Whisper White and Rich Razzelberry for my flowers.  I have some other ideas in mind to try out as well, but for my first card with it, all one color worked well.

I simply stamped the image, did a quick watercolor on the Watercolor paper I used and layered it over. There is a Rich Razzleberry layer under the watercolor paper that I made just just 1/4" larger.

I used the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches for inspiration:

And check out the team's cards here.

Where's Santa, Merry Monday #268

Time to get all these cards I've been doing out to the Post Office!  It scary how close Christmas is. So, my next thing to do is work on printing off the labels for my cards, then I have to go get a job so I can afford stamps. :)

I was pulling from this set and that set. So, I just have to say I'm sorry. When I saw the challenge from Merry  Monday for today I thought, if ever it's time to have fun with a card, this is it! I had one disappointment tho.  I wanted to use embossing paste on the hat, but I opened my paste and it was dried up.  That is life in AZ.  Use it or it's dried out.  I moved here with ink pads I'd had for years and ever bought refills for, never needed them, within a few months they were all dried out.

Here is the challenge and a link to the site so you can see the awesome cards the team and everyone else is doing.

Right away I knew I wanted to hang that hat on Santa's Sleigh and it went from there.  Trees from Lovely as a Tree, stamps and dies from Santa's sleigh bundle, and the hat and mittens from Santa's Suit bundle.

I hope you enjoy and get a smile from this one.  Have a Merry Christmas.

Stampin Up Hearts Come Home, JAI#388

It's looking a lot like Christmas!  Before I became a demo I would gather what products I needed to use and make all my Christmas cards alike. Back then I don't think we had all the challenges thought. And even if I leave SU, I will still do at least some of my cards for challenges, it just makes things more fun.

Today I'm playing along with Just Add Ink.

How can one resist that?!  I choose to use Glimmer paper and glitter ribbon.  For colors I used Very Vanilla and Dapper Denim, one of our Incolors.
I cut my piece from the smaller of the Hometown Greeting dies then trimmed it where it stuck out beyond the frame.   The top die cut piece is from the Card front builder dies that match the Carols of Christmas stamps.
I stamped and embossed using white for my sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by.

TGIF#136, A Gold Christmas card

I'm so excited. I found a new challenge to play with!  Love choices. One of the demo's in my group just started as a team member and post that.    And when I looked and the challenge was a project in Gold, Cherry Cobbler and Very Vanilla, well, I was hooked!
I went crazy and gold embossed the tree from Ready for Christmas, and also Cherry Cobbler embossed the sentiment on vellum.  I'm sorry to say the CC embossing powder is long ago retired. I had this bottle and had never used it. In place, if you have a nice juicy pad you can stamp and very quickly put clear embossing powder and get the look of any color you want.   That is my tip for today.

To check out the TGIF challenge, go here.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Mistletoe Friends Christmas, GDP#115

Global Design Project has a fun theme this week.  Christmas Joy. See it here.
So, what could be more fun then these guys.   The set is called Mistletoe Friends and is just so cute. 3 Different  images to paly with, color or not as you please.  I choose to mostly just do one color, except for the horns and inside of ears.  Quick and simple

I embossed in black, SU has retired the black, but I had some left and it just seemed to be called for here.  The Merry Music DSP was also perfect. In fact I am finding it really useful this year. It comes in both black on white and white on black.

Besides the black and white, I used Bermuda Bay, a bit of Crumb cake and Powder pink on their cute little ears.   I also used the new Blends for my coloring. The Mistletoe is from Pretty Pines dies. The ribbon is the Mini Chevron ribbon, so soft and fun to use.

Thanks for coming by, I'm off to find another challenge for this week, I'm way behind in my Christmas cards this year, how about you?  Do you make a lot of different cards, or just find a design for the current year and make them all alike?
Merry Christmas
