One more Birthday card, Just Add Ink #357

I have lots of birthdays this time of year.  Hubby, Me, grandsons, a brother who passed away at age 30, how do you send a card?  Such a long time ago, but I always think about him this time of year.

I think I need the Motorbike set for him, he loved them and was the mechanic for his group for all the motorcycles.
This one is a bit feminine for him however, I do tend to love those kinds of cards.  I'm afraid I was pulling down sets all over the place for this card, it's just like that sometimes.  I even got out the Papillion Potpourri set.  It's been in the catalog for a long time, mine is old enough it's still in the old style case. I need to get it out more, such a pretty set, but :( the bitty butterfly punch used here is retiring.   I'm keeping mine, along with this set and the bold butterfly dies and the Butterflies thinlits.

Anyway, Just Add Ink had a color challenge this week. Some great colors! Go here to check it out.

I have to admit, Sahara Sand is my least favorite color in the SU line up.  I do have a pack of the CS, just so in case I need it, but I've never gotten the ink. Sometimes I think I should, but more interesting things come up to purchase. Don't tell on me though.

I wish I could give you sizes for all of my layers, but I am an eyeballer.   My card base is 4 1/4" x 5 1/2", open at the bottom.  and from there I just started cutting pieces and trimming until the fit the way I liked.

Happy Birthday Wreath, FMS285

It's Spring moving on into summer here in AZ, how is it by you? I've seen friends in MT and ID who got snow this morning. Yuck!  But then I'm not really looking forward to the 100  + temps either.
So when it comes, I'll be right here in the AC house making cards.

Here is this weeks sketch, go here to see what the team and others have done.

This wreath die set has seen 3 different stamp sets, I have loved them all and I hate that it's all leaving. This set of stamps and the dies will be retiring May 31st.   There is just so much you can do with them.   The little bird on the other hand, will be carrying over along with his bigger brother and the rest of the stamp/die set.

My colors are Elegant Eggplant, Pear Pizzazz, and Whisper White.  I simply embossed the wreath in white and sponged on the two colors, it makes quick work of coloring, but it is really pretty if you take the time to color it in also.   The embossing folder is also leaving. It was in the Occasions catalog leaving us at the same time as the Annual catty, May 31st.

Thanks for stopping by.  And if you want any of this retiring stuff, you'll have to check quick, they tell us it's going fast.

Pretty Hello Card, The Paper Players challenge #341

I have decided to feature some items that are carrying over this time instead of those retiring.
The gold dot background is of course retiring. All the DSP retires in a year, and we get a whole new fun bunch.  The center DSP is retiring as well. It's call Fancy Frost DSP if you want to see if any is left to grab.  The gold dot background piece is in the Pop of Pink DSP.

But the flouishing Phrases and the Florish thinlit dies are returning in the new 2017_2018 catalog. They will be priced separate, but they will be there.   If you hurry you might get the bundle, but product is going fast.   I think I have used this set, especially the thinlits more then anything else this year.   There is just so much and they are so beautiful.

My colors today are, Whisper White, Elegant Eggplant, and Emerald Envy.  I got the soft look of color on my center piece by using a large round brush, dragging it gently over my ink pad then brushing over my paper.  I love using this brush as I can continue brushing until I get the amount of color I want.

The Hello is in the matching stamp set and the little banner is in the Bunch of Banners die set.  Also carrying over.

I hope you enjoy and I can give you some inspiration.

There is a talented bunch over on the site, so click here to see what else there is.

Wishing You, Just Add Ink #356

It's hard to see the copper effects on this one. But, the DSP on the edge is copper foil and the sentiment is copper embossing along with glimmer paper balloons.   It might show better if you click on it and bring it up bigger, I'm not sure.

I used Pink Pirouette for my face CS, and a 1" piece of the copper foil DSP on the edge, leaving just a bit of the pink peeking though. Simple and effective. I think anyone getting it will be very pleased.

I was thrilled to be the winning card of the week last week at JAI!  It's always fun if and when that happens, and it doesn't happen often.

I hope you all had a fabulous Easter weekend, and here we are ready for another one.  Of course I'm retired do everyday is a weekend day. LOL.

Happy weekend, and thanks for looking.

Hope You are feeling special, GDP083

So, how can you not play along when the theme for the week is bling?  I love bling. Actually, I think I'm severely short of bling items, I'll have to do something about that.
When I started to think about what I could do, watercoloring came to mind, with either embossing over top or foil or glimmer paper.  Glimmer won out, and I had not used this large butterfly before, so figured it was about time!  I've used the rest of the butterflies often, just not this big guy, but I think he is just the right touch.

I added some sequins, just some retired ones laying around, but seems like there  are always some in the catalog lately, just some gold and silver would work great.
The sentiment came from  the Garden in Bloom stamp set.

Colors today are: Sweet Sugarplum, Peekabo Peach and Flirty Flamingo with a Whisper White base.
I used watercolor paper for my watercoloring face piece.

Saying goodbye to Flower Patch, Just Add Ink 355

Today I'm playing along with Just Add Ink, they have given us a sketch challenge this week, and I was totally blown away by the teams inspiration cards. Wow, so different but so fabulous.

I'm in the midst of putting away my retiring stamps and making room for my new ones.  Flower Patch is retiring, it's sure had a great run. I see it all over on all kinds of projects. If you have it, I know you love it, if not you might want to get it before it's all gone.  Anything retiring, is only available until the supply is gone.    I'm keeping this set, it's just too pretty and too versitile not to.

My colors today are: Whisper White, Pool Party, Bermuda Bay, Old Olive, Sweet Sugarplum, Flirty Flamingo.   I used Timeless Textures for my little blotches of color, and Tin of Cards for my sentiment.
I stamped 3 of the leaves first then put my ribbon on and built from there. I put all my flowers together, cut a couple more leaves on white to tuck in then just started gluing it down little by little.

Have fun.

Thinking of You, GDP#082

I just purchased this set recently and have been dying to try it out.  Using the small background type stamps is a challenge for me.  I use the full sized ones all the time in many ways but these I usually am just scratching my head.    Really good news is that it will be in the new catalog also.

I hope you can easily see the tiny bit of Red foil I used. I just wanted a bit of pop and it shows really well in person, but I don't think there is a card out there that doesn't.

I used Perfect Plum and stamped that little tiny stamp on the left edge using VersaMark.   My card base is Plum also.  It's going to look like a lot of product was used,  and I'm sorry. But 2 different sets for the squares as well as the main stamped image and yet another set for the sentiment and a banner die cut for the sentiment shape as well.

So, here is the Sketch challenge, how did I do?  Come on over the check out the rest of the cards.
