Mistletoe Friends Christmas, GDP#115

Global Design Project has a fun theme this week.  Christmas Joy. See it here.
So, what could be more fun then these guys.   The set is called Mistletoe Friends and is just so cute. 3 Different  images to paly with, color or not as you please.  I choose to mostly just do one color, except for the horns and inside of ears.  Quick and simple

I embossed in black, SU has retired the black, but I had some left and it just seemed to be called for here.  The Merry Music DSP was also perfect. In fact I am finding it really useful this year. It comes in both black on white and white on black.

Besides the black and white, I used Bermuda Bay, a bit of Crumb cake and Powder pink on their cute little ears.   I also used the new Blends for my coloring. The Mistletoe is from Pretty Pines dies. The ribbon is the Mini Chevron ribbon, so soft and fun to use.

Thanks for coming by, I'm off to find another challenge for this week, I'm way behind in my Christmas cards this year, how about you?  Do you make a lot of different cards, or just find a design for the current year and make them all alike?
Merry Christmas

Good Tidings, Just Add Ink 387, Christmas card

The embossing folder set the tone for this card.   I know it's hard to see, but I sponged Garden Green over the branches that are embossed on the top card.  For some reason I never can see to get light sponging or watercoloring to show up well, but it's showing very well on the original card.  I think what I might be missing is lights from the sides.  I'm going to have to play with that idea.

JAI is having a color challenge this week.  Have a look at the challenge Here.
Pretty Pines Thinlits along with the matching stamp set is a holdover from last year, so is in the Annual catalog now.  If you find you love it, you might want to purchase it, I doubt it will be here again and it's just so useable.
My ribbon is from last years Holiday catalog too.

Everything Merry, Freshly Made Sketches 314

I. Love. This. Dog!  Yup, I bought this set because I loved this dog.  I am really loving the whole set, but the dog put me over the top for it.   Isn't he cute!?

I started this card last wed when the challenge started, but it's just been so busy with all the cooking, eating, visiting, eating.  ect.  You know how that is, so just got it done and here is the challenge.

It was actually a very quick easy card and I really thought I would have it done wed.   Sigh....
We spend Thanksgiving and the days surrounding it, with friends.  They have a big dinner for all their family and friends each year. Some come in their Motorhomes and start coming in on tue and some are still there on sat, so almost a week long thing.  Our hosts make up the main meal parts and everyone else brings a dish, so we have a lot of different and yummy things to eat.

This year our weather here in No AZ has been quite warm during T day week. Up around 85% but of course cooling a lot in the evening.   We ate at 4 each day then around 6 the fire was started in the yard and we sat around it and chatted.    Doesn't get much better then that.

I think this card is going to my friends brother and his wife, they bring 4 little doxies every year.  I have a feeling they will love it.

So, I used my new Stampin Blends Alcohol markers for this.  I'm finding them so easy to use and a lot of fun. My colors are:  Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight and Smoky slate.

Pointsettia Christmas, Freshly Made Sketches 313

This one made up so quickly and was really fun to do.  I had picked up these dies some time ago on a whim while out and about with some friends, and this seemed like the perfect use for them.
I'm playing along with FMS again this week.
My colors are easy, Cherry Cobbler and Whisper White.  I did use a piece of silver behind the sentiment for accent.  I simply punched it out, cut it up the center and glued each end so it showed a
bit.  And then I used some Rhinestones for accent as well.   The stitched border is done with a white gel pen and ruler.  And the white dots are just an old wood stamp I've had forever and I keep in a drawer handy.   But lots of our sets out now, have something that can be used like this. The sentiment is from Snowflake Sentiments.  144820

And that is it! A simple 2 layer card, quickly made.   I hope you enjoyed.

No place like happy, Holiday card. FMS312

So, today you get to see my fat fingers.  Seems to be the only good way to show off the embossed sentiment. It's so pretty in person, but the washi tape isn't showing well on the upper part of the card now.   Take it from me, it's really pretty in person.

I'm playing along with Freshly Made Sketches this week.  I really enjoy their challenges so tend to do them fairly often.   The team cards are a great inspiration.    Here is the challenge for this week and link to it.

It's hard to tell, but I used Very Vanilla here.  I don't usually, I love just white, but the VV goes so well with the gold DSP that I used.   The sentiment is from 2015. Sorry about that, but I didn't have anything current that matched what was in my head.  It's quite a mess up in there, trust me. LOL.

I used 2 different sets for the greenery, but either one would work just fine alone.   I decided I didn't want a dark green and the Lemon Lime Twist turned out to be perfect, along with Real Red.  It's embossed in gold and I used my new Blends SU Alcohol markers to fill in just a bit of the sentiment.

I hope you enjoy and I can give you a bit of inspiration along with the team.

A snowflake Christmas card, Merry Monday 264

It's Merry Monday week again.  I love working on my Christmas cards by doing challenges. It just makes it more fun.

I have to apologize right up front. Most of what is on the card is retired.  I just couldn't help myself, the card pretty much made itself in my head before I sat down, so I just went with it.  I love all the new layering framelits we have now, they work so beautifully, especially love the stitched framelits.

The red snowflake in the center was from an embellishment package a few years ago, I colored it with my new Blends markers.  I'm really impressed with them, and I think they are so much better then the last try.  The Merry is put on using the new double sided adhisive SU has.  Simply cut the size you need, apply to one side of the cardstock, put your die on the front side of the cardstock and cut normally.   The dies tend to come out much easier.  Pull off the back and it sticks down like magic.

So, this weeks challenge is red and kraft.  I have plenty of red, but only a retired package of 12x12 craft left, so cut a piece off that. Here is the challenge:

The new Alcohol blends are available as of Nov 1, so you can order now.  The price is excellent, you get 2 shades of each color.

Sharing the Joy, A Christmas card. FMS311

Ok, officially I love this set every bit as much as I thought I would.  Not sure why I waited so long, oh yeah, I'm not rich, can't have it all especially all at one time.

The sketch is for Freshly Made Sketches for this week. Go here to check out the challenge.
I had so many ideas and really wanted to use more of the goodies in this set, but there just wasn't room.   I'll be making lots more of my Christmas card with it though.  And yes, every Christmas card you see on my blog gets sent.   It's how I get my cards done. Makes it much more fun.

I used: Old Olive, Espresso, Basic Black, Whisper White, Bermuda Bay and Cherry Cobbler.  My dog is filled in using the brand new Blendies (alcohol markers).  I didn't get all the colors in the short period we had to pre order, but they are available again, now. Starting the 1st of Nov.  I'll be getting the rest. Anyway, I filled in using my watercolor pencils.

I used up the very last 3 of my red candy dots. I miss those. I used them all the time. The DSP is Merry Little Christmas.

Trying out a new technique, Christmas card

Trying out a new technique.  This is my 4th try, the other 3 are in the trash, but I think I finally got it. I used 2 purples, Perfect Plum and Elegant Eggplant.
Also used 2 retired sets, Snowflake Soiree and Christmas Keepsakes.

The idea is to use Water color paper, put a small anount of ink from an ink pad onto a non stick work sheet, then spritz with water.  Press paper into that, then dry using heat gun, and do again until you get the look you want.

Hope you enjoy.
