Valentines, SAB rewards and a new challenge

Let's see, where to start. Well, for one, there is a new challenge up. It's called Festive Friday, #festivefriday, and it's different.  Among other things you will be able to rack up points good for goodies.  This is the very first week, however it will be a 2 week challenge. Check it out HERE.

Now for the card. I used a brand new embossing folder that will be available starting Feb 16th as part of the free SAB goodies.   SU is adding a few new things for us.  The Hearts on this card are from an Occasions set called Heart Happiness.  It's one of 2 Valentine sets in the Occasions catalog, the other set can be purchased as a bundle.  I decided instead to buy this set AND the framelit set separate.

A couple of the framlits also work for stamps in this set.  And TIP HERE. Don't ever get rid of common shapes punches.  They have a way of showing up in new stamp sets.  I discovered that the Sweetheart punch that is retired works on a stamp in this set, AND one of the framelits in the retired Hearts collection set fits the large heart in here that is filled with flowers.

My colors today are Smoky Slate, Basic Gray, Calypso Coral and Gold.
The strip of DSP across the card is from  Painted With Love, lots of gold, Melon Mambo and Calypso Coral. It's just gorgeous.

My sentiment if from Petal Palette stamp set, also in the Occasions catalog, stamped in Gold on vellum and cut out using a die from the Stitched Shapes set. Now you are going to ask me how I glued that vellum on.  It's really not too hard. I put glue dots under text, or as here up in that corner tucked under the edge of one of the hearts.
I hope you enjoyed, and please do check out this challenge, I think it's going to really be fun.

FMS321, A birthday card

Wow, it's been 10 days since I've posted on my blog. I do try not to let that long go by, but we have been really busy.  We spent a few days in Quartzsite for a rally of our FMCA group, then my girls all came to visit. Even my Texas girl flew in.    It was soooo nice to spend time with my girls!

So, I've had all these adorable sets here that I haven't had a chance to play with.  Today I'm playing along with Freshly Made Sketches. Such a simple, cute sketch to play with. So many things that can be done. I love sketches like that and I seem to enjoy FMS quite often.

The main set I'm using today is from the new 2018 Occasions catalog, the Petal Palette Bundle. Petal Palette stamps and the Petals and more Dies.   My colors today are: Blushing Bride, Powder Pink, Lemon Lime Twist, black and white.   I also used the scallop die from the Seasonal Layers Dies.

The sentiment is from Happy Wishes and the splotches are from Waterfront.    The ribbon is the new white organza 1/4".

I sponged on the powder pink then used the Blushing Bride to put on splatters, stamped leaves as well as die cutting some.

A fun new technique, and Fusion's 4th anniversary

Yes, my 2nd card for the Fusion challenge.  I came across this technique while searching for something else on youtube.  It's from Jennifer McGuire again, I just love her style.  This one uses your dies to stamp with. Actually, you emboss using it.  I had a terrible time with my die moving when I took it off after running it through the Big shot, but that is my fault. All my clear plates are so warped!    It seems like it's the Precision Plate that does it.  I really love my plate, so I've decided that I will order some new plates and just use the old ones only on the Precision plate, it's hard to do much of anything on those warped plates.

This time I think I got both the sketch and the photo in my card.  I love this, but I can see where I sure need some practice.

Here is the challenge.Go here to join in.

I used Tempting Turquoise, Dapper Denim and Whisper White.

Journey with a friend, FMS#319

What a fun little set this stamp set is! I couldn't wait to get it.  I also got the Brusho in the same order. How fun is this?!  All I did was just sprinkle a tiny bit of the Brusho powder on the paper and spritz with water, done.

I used the watercolor pencils for my coloring. Then very lightly went over them with the Blender pen. For such a small image, the Blender pen gave me more control then the Aqua painter would have.
The sentiment came from the Host set Cozy cottage and I stole a die from my Petal and more die set to cut out the sentiment.

My sketch came from Freshly Made Sketches.
It's hard to believe all the wonderful products that are out for stampers these days. The hard part is just waiting to get your hands on them.   Click Here to check out the challenge.

Be Creative, #TGIF141

I haven't played with this must have set for a long time. A lot of my stamp sets were put aside for the Christmas season. I'm pretty much focused on Christmas cards from the time the new Holiday catalog comes out, in order to get enough done for sending.  I think next year, I'll make 2 of each one when I do them and get done that much faster, I'll get them sent earlier and have more time to do other cards and projects.

This one is going out to my friend who's husband is on hospice. It's been a long time and as much as she wants to get in her stamp room, she isn't taking care of herself.  I worry about her as she needs to take her mind off everything for a bit each day so she doesn't feel so overwhelmed.

Here are the challenge colors:

For my background I used Fresh Florals DSP. It comes in the new incolors and the designs are gorgeous.
I cut it slightly smaller then my card base, then layered white on the center to place my design on.
I first used my Aqua brush to pick up color from my ink pad.  Just squeeze the top down to put some color on it from the pad, then you can use as much water from the Aqua brush as you need to get the light/dark that you want.  I got my brush very wet and tapped it on my finger to have the drops splatter.

Then I painted and fussy cut the pot and brushes, added them on with dimentionals and added my sentiment. Before I glued down the last white piece I added the Fresh Fig ribbon, and topped it off with pearls.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Charming cafe and TTT#029

Starting out 2018 with a Tic Tac Toe challenge. Here is the board.
I choose the top across and middle row down. I have found a really enjoy creating scenes. And Stampin Up has so many cute sets now for doing that.   Does this one remind you of a little french cafe?  I thought the crackle paper for the building worked out very well subtle, but neat.

I used my Watercolor pencils for this one, and instead of the Aqua brush, I used my blender pen to even it all out.

Colors are Daffodil Delight, Bermuda Bay, Espresso and black.
The set is called Charming Cafe, and has a set of dies to match.  I used those to cut my table set out and my plants, but there isn't one for the window. I had to fussy cut that. Pretty easy cut though.
