Stampin Up, Beachy Santa
I have had this in my head since the new Holiday 2017 catalog came out. I'm in the middle of turning my living room into a Beach theme and this was perfect to hang on the wall or put on the shelf.
I ended up using 4 differnt stamp sets, but most of it is done using just 2. Santa's Suit and Glamper Greetings. Of course the Palm trees were from Beachy Little Christmas.
Putting the reindeer in at the top was a last minute decision. And Santa can be either grabbing for his clothes or waving the reindeer in. I choose to think he is doing both, waving the reindeer down while he grabs for his clothes to get ready.
The camper could have been a little bigger, but it's all I had. But hey, he can go down chimminys so why not into the camper?
The frame is a 5x7 with a glass top. I was getting these at Walmart, but I'm not really seeing them there anymore, they were really cheap too. But those lucite frames would work too.
I made this 5x7, and the top layer is 1/4" smaller on 2 ends. I hand cut some mounds for the sand dunes. Sahara Sand for the sand and Soft Sky for the sky/water.
The other colors are: Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green, Crumb Cake, Basic black, Smoky Slate and Soft Suede.
If you decide to do something similiar, have fun. I did.

Peek at 2017Holiday stamp set, Just Add Ink 372
Some little known info about me, I was born and raised in CA, I've lived a lot of other places since I've been an adult, but when we (hubby and I) retired, we got out. We now live in AZ, and as much as we miss the ocean within a couple hour drive, life is good here. It's a wonderful state to live in.
But since one of my favorite songs is George Straight, Ocean Front Property, right from the start I did what I could to make my front patio into a beachy area. Later on, I did the same with one of my bathrooms. And now, I'm working on my living room.
So, this set in the new Holiday catalog, is right up my alley and I had to have it first thing. It's called, Beachy Little Christmas.
This scene would be so neat in my back yard, maybe I could paint the dirt blue? Sigh..... Ok, will just have to be content to make Christmas cards with it.
Here is the color challenge for this week from Just Add Ink:

So, these plus a bit of Crumb Cake are my colors for this. I used my aqua painter and my blender pen. The blender pen defined some of the smaller spaces like the top of the roof. One of my Aqua Painters has alcohol in it. I used it at times like this, I wanted to stamp in dye ink, in this case the Tranquit Tide, but I didn't want to smear it all over. For the sand and water I just used one with water in it. And it's all on Watercolor paper. I really do hope you enjoy!
