Stampin Up, Pals Paper Arts sketch #304 Sympathy

I rarely post a Sympathy card.  I just do not make them until I need one. I guess I'm always hoping I won't have to  make another one.  But reality is, I'm making more and more of them. So, I decided with the advent of this wonderful sentiment set, to post one for the challenge.

The blue is our new Dapper Denim, I love it! And it is so beautiful with Crumb Cake. Of course most colors go with Crumb Cake, but this one is really nice.   I sure don't know what I'd do without CC, hope it's here for a long, long time.

Colors for this card are, Crumb Cake, Dapper Denim, and Garden Green.

I combined the Heartfelt Sympathy stamp set with the fern from Butterfly Basics and used the Woodgrain embossing folder for one layer.  I stamped the fern on vellum CS and rounded the corners. It seemed to want that.

The sentiment set is cut out using the new Layered square framelits. These are wonderful. 4 sets of framelits to allow you to mix and match scalloped and regular squares, and also you can decide how much room between them you want.  I wanted my scallops to just peek out here.

Thanks for stopping by, I sure hope you enjoyed.

Stampin Up, Pals Paper Arts Challenge #294

This week is a sketch challenge hosted by Dawn Tidd.  I usually do not use a great deal of DSP, (Designer Series Paper).  I find often that people rely on it too much.  I truly enjoy coming up with my own design.  So, this is a departure for me and I love it, these two pieces worked so well together.

The DSP is English Garden and it mimics a stamp and die set we have as well, so the possibilities are endless.  Often times SU will take some color and when they used them for DSP they will lighten them up as is the case here.  The pink in this is Melon Mambo and that is the color of my ribbon.

For the center I used two ovals from the Oval framelits and my butterfly is from Butterfly Basics stamp set, die cut using the Butterfly thinlits.  I then sponged color (Blushing Bride) on the edges so I didn't have that white border.

I hope you enjoyed and gained a bit of inspiration here today. Thanks for stopping by.  Here is the sketch:

Come on over and play with us.

Stampin Up, Global Design Project 022

Hello, and welcome!  GDP has a sketch challenge this week.  I had a great time doing this one.  I pulled out some well used stamps and dies from this years annual catalog.

I used Sahara Sand, Crumb Cake and Rose Red.    I do LOVE florishes so this stamp set is not ever going anywhere and I hope SU keeps it in the catalog for a good long time.
The beautiful subtle design on this DSP was perfect to stamp on and is just enough texture.

Here is the sketch:

I hope you enjoy, and thanks for coming by.

Stampin Up, Mojo Monday #404

And, it's another Mojo Monday! It's tall and skinny week, however I was too lazy to make my envelope, so I just started my card cutting my CS the long way at 4 1/4", scoring at 5 1/2".

The background is from the 6x6" paper stack Pretty Petals, I love this size, it's so usable for cards, the patterns are smaller as well as the paper.  The Tin of cards stamp set provided the sentiment, I love these, they are such a nice size and love the font!

The center piece running down is the back side of the butterfly piece, and it's Calypso Coral. Somehow after stamping the sentiment I love my ink pad, any one want to come help me hunt??????  I just can't believe I lost an ink pad, it's a first for that!

Colors, Mint Macaron, Calypso Coral, and Black.
That tiny little butterfly is from Butterfly Basics and uses the Bitty butterfly punch.
I also used the 2" and 2 3/8" round punches, the larger is the scallop round.

Thanks for stopping, have a great day.

One more thing. Starting tomorrow, June 30th and going until Aug 3rd. SU is putting even more items on the clearance rack AND adding more to the weekly deals at a deeper discount. Click on any image in below to be taken to my store.

Stampin Up, June class project

I thought that today I would post one of my class projects, I don't do that very often and I should. This card is one of the reasons I love this set so much. It's Butterfly Basics, page 124 in the new catalog, or you can find it on my Stampin Up site here:

It's really a pretty simple card, but it doesn't look at that. I started with the fern and butterfly in white. They are white embossed, then sponge on the colors, then add the rest over the top.  You'll notice a bit of the honey comb stamp on the left and a couple of blue butterflies along with the flower in blue.

I hope you give this technique a try and enjoy it. Thanks for stopping by.

Wishes Your way..... Class project

Today was my monthly class, we always have a great time and today was no different. My class fell in love with this paper!  It's one of the free selections for SAB, where you get to choose one item from the SAB mini catalog for each $50 you spend.

See the pink stripe on the side? That is one of the patterns in the paper, however, it has no color until you color it.   Besides this stripe, there are pretty florals and leaves and a couple others. It's double cool as you can use any color ink pad or Blendie to color it.   After coloring, just wipe over it with a soft cloth or soft paper towel to take off excess ink.

For my stamp set, I choose Butterfly Basics, such a fun set with lots of great elements. The flower was stamped in black memento ink and colored in using Blendibilities.

Colors are Pink Pirouette, Whisper White, Black, Strawberry Slush, and old Olive Blendies.
