Peek at 2017Holiday stamp set, Just Add Ink 372

Some little known info about me, I was born and raised in CA, I've lived a lot of other places since I've been an adult, but when we (hubby and I) retired, we got out. We now live in AZ, and as much as we miss the ocean within a couple hour drive, life is good here. It's a wonderful state to live in.

But since one of my favorite songs is George Straight, Ocean Front Property, right from the start I did what I could to make my front patio into a beachy area.  Later on, I did the same with one of my bathrooms.  And now, I'm working on my living room.
So, this set in the new Holiday catalog, is right up my alley and I had to have it first thing.  It's called, Beachy Little Christmas.

This scene would be so neat in my back yard, maybe I could paint the dirt blue? Sigh..... Ok, will just have to be content to make Christmas cards with it.
Here is the color challenge for this week from Just Add Ink:
Just click on the link to check out the other cards, including the gorgeous selection from the team.

So, these plus a bit of Crumb Cake are my colors for this.   I used my aqua painter and my blender pen.  The blender pen defined some of the smaller spaces like the top of the roof.  One of my Aqua Painters has alcohol in it. I used it at times like this, I wanted to stamp in dye ink, in this case the Tranquit Tide, but I didn't want to smear it all over.   For the sand and water I just used one with water in it.  And it's all on Watercolor paper.  I really do hope you enjoy!

JAI #364, Thinking Of You

Just Add Ink has an inspiration challenge this week.  I knew right away what set I would use to start with.   This one is shaping up to be a favorite already.  It's called Grown with Love.   I had to lay the card flat to get the light to shine on the embossing so you could see it. It's done in Copper like the piece in the inspiration photo.

The team did a fantastic job, as usual. Click on the link to see.

It looks like I used a lot of product in this, but mostly I was just trying to find little things that would work for the vision in my head.    My colors today are:  Powder Pink, So Saffron, Pear Pazzazz, Tranquil Tide and Whisper White along with copper for embossing.

I used one of the new templates for the brick background, just used a large round brush and brushed over part of the stencil to create my background.

Celebrate You, FMS280

It has been a little while since I've posted to my blog.  Life has just gotten in the way for awhile. But it was a good thing.  We had good friends stop and stay in their coach.  We spent a lot of time showing them the sights, and just visiting.   Any time left over I needed to recoup, I am far from where I would like to be with my energy and strength yet.

So, this week at FMS the sketch is so open to most anything. I had several ideas in my head, but this is something I haven't done in some time so I went with it as we do have the perfect stamp set for it.

When I first started stamping, way, way back in the dark ages, we used to make our own backgrounds, there was no (gasp) pattern paper.   I choose 2 leaves and one flower for my background, then looked over the colors until I found 3 I liked together.

Here is the sketch for this week:

The leaves have 2 stamps each, one for the base and one for the veins in the leaves. I used the same color for the veins, after I was done stamping all the elements. You could use a darker color, up to you, but I liked the subtle effect here.

I used a bit of black twine for some contrast and a stitched oval framelit for my sentiment.
There is a die set for this as well and I thought about cutting one of two pieces to layer under the sentiment piece, but it seemed busy enough to me.   I generally keep my on the simple side.

I hope you enjoyed, please check out all the cards, they are all wonderful.

Mojo Monday 487, Small things

This was a fun card to make.  It took awhile to come up with something I was happy with, but I love how it turned out.  I did the Mojo Monday sketch this week.

After the colorful background, I decided I wanted to do black and white to offset the colors and bring your eye to the front.

The flower was die cut from the Flourish Thinlits die set, and layered over one of the Stitched Shapes.

Here is this weeks sketch:

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Pals Paper Arts challenge #311, Small things

It's my week! How about that. I love serving on the PPA team more then I can tell you. It's fun, it makes me want to do my best work and it pushes me to try new things.   So, here are the colors I have selected for my week.

It is so hard to choose a favorite new set/bundle in this years annual catalog! I have never seen such a fabulous catalog in all the years I have been buying Stampin Up.   I did think Swirly Birds was my fav, but this jar set is so neat. So many different things you can do with a killer stamp set and die set.

Then there are the flourish sets, but that is another day and card. LOL

This is the medium sized jar in the stamp set, there is a little stamp for the water or whatever you want in there, but I enjoy watercoloring my own in.  I used the Shimmer White paper as you can do some watercoloring on it without problems.

Since I always seem to leave a mess behind, I have left one on the bottom of the card. Some leaves and flowers just fell out.  And I love the bow on the jar.

The sentiment is from Layering Love. It's so nice to have a set with large and sometimes more meaning ful sentiments.  I used the new Layering Ovals that I just got.  I LOVE these layering shape sets, all of them.  I think this card would make a great new baby shower card, what about you?

Not that anyone in my family is having any more babies anytime soon.  I have 6 grandsons, 3 are old enough they could have kids, but they do not.

I do hope you have enjoyed and I have left behind a bit of inspiration.  If so that makes me very happy because so many blogs have given me plenty.
