Mojo Monday 291 and More new SU

Today I used a brand new package of DSP called Gingham Garden. I have to say that I told my friend Shannon who was at the regional with me that I wouldn't be getting that one. I really am not that fond of Gingham paper, well! There is very little gingham and lots of garden along with some nice smaller  patterns that are so perfect for cards and I couldn't resist.

This was round or square week at MojoMonday, and I chose square.

So here are the sketches to work from. Very cute, don't you think? Julee did a great job with these.

Before I list my supplies I need to tell you that I used a combo of new and current product, if you want any current product that is retiring, you'll need to get it ordered before May 30. On May 31st, the new catalog is in full effect.  Until then you will see a lot of the same new product being used as even as Demo's we can only preorder certain items.  So it's a great time to check out blogs and challenges and see what's being done with it before you order.

Masculine Birthday Card

I needed a card for my 14yr old grandson's birthday. He has reached an age where I can no longer get by with a cutest card. So sad, my 3 youngest grandson's are all 14 now, no more babies.

So, I did a card using a combo of old and new product.

It took me awhile but at some point I fell in love with this wood grain embossing folder, it's so useful!
I sponged on some of the Crumb Cake ink just to dirty it up some. The Patterned paper is part of the Gingham Garden paper pack, the whole pack is just gorgeous, this piece is done in Pear Pizzazz one of the new colors.

Mojo Monday 290

And so, here I am, freshly back from the Stampin Up regional at the home office in UT.  What a day we had!  I hope you all are looking forward to the new catalog cause it's seriously fantastic!

So, this morning I had gone to bed early as I was soooo tired from my weekend. It was over 500miles each way, up on friday, back on sunday and a big late day in between.
I hope your monitor shows the Perfect Plum better then mine is, when I cleaned up the photo it just wouldn't come up looking plum for me, but that is what it is. I paired it with Pool Party and Basic Gray.
The stamps are from the Best Of sets, Best of Butterflies and Best Of Flowers, the 25th anniversary sets.
SU is doing one a month, they are a great price and while it is the best of from older sets there are some new ones in each one as well.  If you buy each one in the month it is brought in, after 6 of them you can get a free set.

PAL's Paper Arts Challenge 157

I was lucky enough when I decided I wanted to join Stampin Up as a demo, to land in Mary's group called the PAL's.  It just makes everything easier and more fun.
One of the things the PAL's do is a challenge every other week. One is a color challenge and one is a sketch challenge.
This week it's a sketch challenge.  And here is my entry.

I used Very Vanilla, Black and Pool Party.  Pool Party is a current In Color, that will be staying around in the next catalog.   I often use Very Vanilla with Black to soften the look some.
The hearts and the little stamped tag are from Hearts A Flutter Bundle(129252) in the Spring Catalog.
Sentiment is in the main catalog in the Word Play set (120651). It's an interesting sentiment set.
I also used the Adorning Accents embossing folder for the strip of little embossed hearts.(125601)
I used Very Vanilla Seam binding for my ribbon. (120999). I think Seam binding give such a nice soft look.
Here is the sketch:
We are getting very close to the end of the catalog year at SU, so if there are things you love in it that you want to be sure to get, you might want to do that fairly soon. Ordering from the new catalog starts May 31st.
If you would like to shop now, go here.

Saying Goodbye to Retiring colors

With the new SU catty coming out soon, we have some colors retiring. Loving the new colors, but am sad about some of the old ones.   So, this card is saying goodbye to Pretty in Pink, Baja Breeze and Certainly Celery.
Here is the breakdown.  These colors will be leaving. Unfortunately,  the last weekend's free shipping depleted the stock on these colors pretty much.

But, the good news is, there are fun new colors to play with soon.
Some of these are with us as In colors now, some are coming back and a brand new one, Smoky Gray is very welcome. Just the other day I was wishing for a lighter gray.

Here is my card waving goodbye.  I started with Basic Gray as a neutral, added a piece of Baja Breeze from the Subtles Designer Series Pad, cut a piece of Certainly Celery and layered my Pretty In Pink over it after using the  Finishing touch edgelit on one side. A piece of Baja Breeze seem binding finishes it off. With the Hello from Million Dollar Moment (Hostess set) as a sentiment.
On the bottom I used one of the Label collection framelit dies, inked the edges and stamped the butterfly (Best of Butterflies anniversary set) in Basic Gray, then stamped in Pretty in Pink and cut out. I added a rhinestone for bling.

Thanks for stopping by, hope this gives you some ideas.

Shhhhh, sneaking a peek at my swap card

So, next week I will be headed for Salt Lake City and SU's main office for a mini convention. I'm so excited, one of the things we do is swap cards, and I've been working on some for that purpose.
Don't tell the PAL's on me, gotta keep them a secret until it's time.

My card features the new Best Of Flowers, March's 25th anniversary set. For a really nice price you get a set of the best flower stamps SU has done over the years, plus one or two brand new stamps.
I used
Whisper White, Crumb Cake, Melon Mambo and Soft Suede
Supplies:
I used one of the Delicate Designs embossing folders at the bottom of my Crumb Cake piece, then used the Large Scallop Edgelit die.
That created a little shelf at the middle and I stamped my flowers, three times across and used a little piece of Melon Mambo as accent. Next I stamped the sentiment ( Petite Pairs) in the upper corner. All done.
Thanks for stopping by.

Mojo Monday 288

Good morning, it's monday so it's a Mojo Monday morning.   I struggled a bit with this sketch, it's different, but I had a lot of fun with it.   On a personal level I am not one that likes too much going on with a card, so I tend to not use too many patterns normally. Of course there are always exceptions to every rule.

Here is the sketch this week:
Of course first things first, had to pick my colors, I wanted something that said spring, out here in the desert it
sure is spring. My cactus flowers are not quite there yet, but most everything else is blooming, even my roses.
I chose So saffron, not a real yellow lover, but this has a nice touch of gold to it and it's so soft.  The Print Poetry DSP stack from the Spring Catty helped with the rest.  The little round text piece on top of my flowers is from Collage Curios and uses the 1" punch.
Colors:
Whisper White
Certainly Celery (if you like it and don't have it get it now, it's going away May 31st. )
Marina Mist
Soft Suede
Supplies:
Collage Curios  (Spring Catty) (129099 Wood) (129102 Clear)
Stacks of Wishes (Hostess set, Spring Catty)
1" Round punch
1 1/4" scallop round punch  (127811)
Sizzix Big L fun die
Honeycomb embossing folder ( Spring Catty) (129378)
Perfect Dots embossing folder
Print Poetry DSP Stack (Spring Catty)  (129312)

Thanks for stopping by, and please I'd love it if you left a little note telling me what you think.

PPA 156, and a new technique

Blue is my all time favorite color, so this was more fun then usual for me. Also, I tried something new, and it has lots of possibilities.
I used Whisper White for my base card and then Marina Mist and on top Bashfull blue.
Aren't they beautiful colors? And so springy.
I used the French Script background stamp in Bashful Blue, to create a subtle effect on the CS, then ran it through the Lacy Brocade embossing folder (Holiday and Spring cattys).
Any embossing folder will do, but a more open one looks better for this.   After embossing I inked up my brayer with my white pad and rolled across the raised embossing.
I finished off with a few green branches and used a stamp from the Four Frames set, punching it out with the Decorative label punch and stamping in the sentiment from Blooming with Kindness..

Here is a close up so you can see it better, it's a little hard to see here.
I hope you enjoyed. Thanks for stopping by.

Mojo Monday 287

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter, and here we are with another Mojo Monday.
I started out to play with my new pack of Natural Composition DSP, it's such cool paper, it has a raised, shiny design. I sponged some Melon Mombo  over the flowers, I know it's a bit hard to see in photos.

Here is a closeup of how it looks.
Colors I used:
Very Vanilla
Melon Mombo
Daffodil delight
Early Expresso

Supplies:
Very Vanilla Seam binding, DSP patterned paper pad.
Doily, sponged with Melon Mombo
Best of Birthdays (Su 25th anniversary monthly set)
Bloomin Marvelous (butterfly stamp)
Petite butterfly punch ( Spring Catty)
Rhinestones

Thanks for stopping by
