Bright Wishes, #fms330

I've been looking for an excuse to play with this set and this was it. Not exactly a great match for the sketch, but I had to do it.   I was attracted to this set when the catalog first came out, bought it and it's been sitting.  Such a pretty image.

I am using the Freshly Made Sketches sketch for this week.  See it here and check out the rest of the cards.
I started by stamping with a versamark pad and embossing in black. Then used my Watercolor pencils to fill in.  They work really well on something like this, then I just went over one color at a time with the Aqua Brush.
I used Whisper white and Pacific Point Cardstock, and the pencil colors are: Pacific Point, Old Olive, Calypso Coral, Rich Razzleberry Early Espresso and Basic Gray and Daffodil Delight.

I fussy cut around the image and popped it up with dots.  For the sentiment, I put it on a stitched oval, then cut both edges down.  Very simple, really.  The piece behind the well is from the Florish Thinlet die set.

Best Day Ever, Just add ink #401

So, this is one of my favorite techniques.  I just got this set, Flirty Flowers, and I white embossed the images then watercolored over that.  I used my ink pad and Aqua Painter, or if you like it can just be sponged on, but I felt like watercoloring to get a deeper color.

I decided to keep it otherwise fairly simple.  My little butterfly was my one sweet accent.
So, here is the sketch for this week, and you can go here to see all the cards.

My colors for this are: Whisper white, Rich Razzleberry, Sweet Sugarplum.

Cupcake fun birthday, FMS329

My neighbor's birthday is the first of Apr and she has been under quite a lot of stress lately after her hubby had knee surgery.  I thought she would enjoy a pretty, bright birthday card.
Since I love having a challenge to help me get started, I'm playing along with Freshly Made Sketches again this week. Check out the rest of the challenge, right here.
I used an older, but still in the catalog set for my cupcake and new metallic paper along with a couple of items that may be retired by now. The tinsel and the doily.      I just sponged some colors on the part of the card under the cupcake and doily.

My colors for this one are: Berry Burst, Pool Party, Lemon Lime Twist, Pink Pirouette and a bit of Whisper White.
I hope you enjoyed and thanks for coming by.

Hold on to Hope, Easter card

I love this card! I very, very seldom CASE the SU catalog, but I did here because it was just so pretty. I made a couple changes however.  I started with Watercolor paper for my top piece, and used the Yellow Brusho.  So, first I stamped the flower set in Versamark and white embossing powder. It's hard to see here I know and for that reason I didn't stamp the 2nd flower set onto the card stock.  I stamped it on vellum and embossed in white then cut it out with the die.

I was careful with the Brusho not to get my color too intense.  You can see the little splotches of color from it.  Then I die cut my cross, and as I fastened it down with glue dots, I also wrapped the vellum flower set around using the glue dots as well.  I was careful to leave room to slip in my ribbon, and used a glue dot to hold the ribbon together and to the card at the cross over junction.

You don't need a half doily, just a little portion cut from one edge for each top and bottom.  The greeting is a very old stamp I had stuck away as I didn't have a current one I liked for this.
The Hold on to Hope set is a wonderful sympathy set, but as you see, really nice for Easter as well.

The cutout I used for the sentiment is from Petals and More die set.

Easter Greetings, #fms328

I'm quite taken with Brusho at the moment.  It's not right for anywhere near every card, but it sure can be fun. It tends to be a bit on the bold side and can take a bit of playing with to get a feel for it. You get a set of 5 colors with SU's box set.
A couple of TIPS, if you are using it for the first time. 1. Don't open the lid. Nothing in there except the powder and that can go everywhere.  Just poke 1 to 3 small holes in the lid, since it's a powder you don't need to worry about it drying up or anything.  2. Go easy, just sprinking a little bit on your paper and watercolor paper is the best fit. Then spritz with water.  Just spritz more water and/or add a bit more powder until you get the look you want.  More water will give less of the splotches, more powder will give lots more color and lots more splotches.  It's a lot of fun to see what you come up with.  3. Do a bit of spritz on the back side of your watercolor paper and it will lay flatter while you are working on it and while it dries.

I used the Yellow and the Blue in the set, also, Wisteria Wonder, Whisper White and Daffodil Delight.
The floral and cross are from Hold On To Hope in the Occasions catalog, what a fabulous set! It's a keeper for sure.  The sentiment is a very very old wood mounted stamp from many years and another company ago.   But I have not a single Easter greeting type stamp in my SU stuff. I'm going to have to keep my eye open for something. I would have loved one that said Easter Blessings. I think I have a big SU stamp from a few years ago that does say that come to think of it. Hmmm, I need to find that.
The die cut for the sentiment as well as the piece under it, came from Petals and More Thinlit dies. They are the die set for Petal Palette and that die set is currently available on the SAB. Place a $100 order to get that die set, but make sure to check with your demo, it takes a special number to order it free.

So, Here is the challenge for this week and the link to the site for Fresly Made sketches, check it out.

Happy Birthday in Copper foil, #FMS327

We have a sketch challenge from Freshly Made Sketches this week.  I've been dying to use my brand new pack of Springtime Foils DSP, all heavy paper with 3 different metallic designs. And it can be colored too.  Plus, it's free!!!  Just purchase at least $50 in SU current product and you can choose this free.

The flower here is cut from one of the metallic designed papers in the set.  I used my Blends on this.
So here is the challenge, and you can check it out here as well.

I used Thick Whisper white CS, then Pink Pirouette, then added the bottom piece after I colored it with my Bermuda Bay blends markers.    I colored the flower off another piece and fussy cut that and added it.    The frame for my sentiment is from Bunch of Banners dies, when you cut it, it creates it's own frame.  You can cut a 2nd one out of whatever color you would like and add that or do as I did and use the Blends to color the frame piece.    After coloring I pushed them together turned them over and added Stampin Dimensionals so they would hold them both together.

Happy Stampin.
