Stampin Up and Global Design Project challenge 004

The GDP is on challenge #4 already, wow. And while I'm at it, where did Sept go? I'm not sure I saw it as it swept by.  But we do always love when Oct comes here in the desert of AZ, it means it will finally cool down. So far this week looks to be pretty darn hot, but it won't last too much longer.

This was in interesting challenge, we were to take something away from a card done by a member of the challenge and use it as inspiration.  I hope I have inspired you.

Stampin Up, Silent Night Christmas card

Isn't this pretty? I love the peaceful Christmas cards that remind us of a more old fashioned Christmas.  Quiet with snow and sleighs.

For this one I used the new set of framelits called, Sleigh Ride, you can get the bundle of it with sentiment stamps that match the curves.  There are 3 layers, I left the tree layer out, use all 3, or just one, it's up to you.

I started with a piece of Watercolor paper, and did the sky first. I brushed on plenty of water, then picked up some Marina Mist or Tempting turquoise with my brush  and just brushed where ever I felt like.

When it dried, I stamped on the trees from Wonderland, and then cut my 2 pieces from the framelits. I brushed on Dazzling Details glitter glue, and added more glitter from Dazzling Dimonds.  Added my sentiment and that was all.

I hope you enjoyed and got some ideas of your own. Thanks for stopping by.

Stampin Up, Peace Christmas card

There are just too many goodies in this Holiday catalog. I was going through some of the new DSP and this one is so gorgeous! However, it's a little busy and the images are fairly large, so a little harder to use.   I set about finding some thing I could make with it that made me happy, and this is it.

The Peace is done in Gold Foil and matches the beautiful gold ribbon. Pretty simple and quick and lovely if I may say so myself.

I hope I have inspired you with this, let me know ok? If you need an answer, you will have to come back to the comments to find it, unfortunately Blogger doesn't have a way for me to reply to you in email.

Have a great weekend.

Stampin Up, Pals Paper Arts Sketch challenge #269, Just because.

It looks simple now, but when I first looked at the sketch I was drawing a blank. Let me show you.
See?  Think about it, what would you do?  This was one of those tricky ones, it's looks hard, but it turned out so simple.   I am always so proud of myself when I am able to come up with a great card for a sketch or color set that I just draw a blank on at first.

I do love Black and White, especially with a pop of color. And I had this new Cotton paper made just to do flowers with. It's thin and easy to work with, but I only had one pack with some pretty bright colors.  So, Black and White was needed to calm things down some.

I just love the new rimmed pearls, they add such elegance, and made the perfect center.

Come on over and play with us, you really can sharpen your skills doing challenges.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Stampin Up, Simple Birthday Card

I have a pretty and simple card for you today.  It does have a bit of coloring but still doesn't take much time and I find coloring to be calming.

I used Bordering Blooms and the Host set Happy Birthday Everyone.  The Host sets are in the back of the catalog, this one is in the annual catalog, and are priced at a special price.  Any order of $150 or more gives you access to purchase these sets.

Colors for this one are Watermelon Wonder and Whisper White and Mint Macaron, I used Island Indigo for the sentiment, but black would work fine.  I did this same card in Pink if you scroll down a ways.

Stamp the border top and bottom in SU's new Basic Black, then stamp the sentiment in the middle.

I used my Blender Pen, gently squeezed the top down before opening to get a little bit of ink on the lid.
Then I used that ink with my blender pen to color it in.  The sequins gives it a little bit of fun.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope I've given you some ideas for your own cards.

Stampin Up, Embellished Ornaments

This is one of my class cards for this month. They had such a good time with it. I have to admit, this is my favorite set from the Holiday catalog this year. You Just can't make a bad card using it. The one on the left is die cut, I used one of the Circle framelits for the back side.  The one on the right, looks die cut but it is not. If you don't have a machine to use die cuts, just the stamps from this set will yeld fabulous results.  The tops are cut from gold foil.  I layered white over white on my card base, but matching up one of the colors used on the ornaments would have worked great for the base card.

I hope this gives you some ideas of your own, you will find the products below and clicking on any of them will take you to my store. Did I mention?  All you need for fabulous Christmas cards for this year is this one stamp set, so many ways to use them.

Thanks for stopping by.

Stampin Up, Festival of Tree Watercolor Christmas

Todays card was a class card. I taught them a tiny bit of watercolor. They did great, it was a small sample and easy and fun to do.

The circle is watercolor paper. I wet the top where I wanted sky with a brush and then used my Aqua Painter to pick up some color from an ink pad. In this case it was Marina Mist, you can do darker if you want it to look more like night.

When it was dry, I inked up my stamp with Mossy Meadow, stamped once right where that popped up one is, then up some and off to the sides without reinking. Then I  used another piece of paper and stamped another tree, used the ornament piece from the set and did that in Real Red, then I used my Versa mark pad and silver embossing powder and added the tinsel looking stamp and embossed.

Use your dimentials and raise it up on top of the first tree you stamped.

Here is a close up of detail.

I used the new Snowfall embossing folder in Whisper White over the base card in Mossy Meadow.

Stampin Up, Pals Paper Arts challenge # 268 All is Calm

I had this idea rolling around in my head for  most of a day, so when I got up the next morning I made my coffee and sat right down to put in on paper.    Actually, there is a second card as well and I'll post it down below.

I LOVE doing watercolor. I'm not very good at it, but I keep trying, and would love to find a class. This one was pretty simple though.  The Aqua Painter is great for something like this, my one tip that I have figured out over time, is to make sure your watercolor paper is nice and wet before you start adding color to it, at least if you are using an ink pad to pick up your color from.

The snowflakes are made using the Versamark pad and embossed in white, then I watercolored, made up my ornament and then stamped the sentiment.  All pretty simple.

The envelop was made using the Envelop Punch board. My card is 5 1/2" square.  When making a square card, it's pretty handy to be able to make the matching envelop.

Card #2.

As always I hope I've given you a bit of inspiration, thanks so much for stopping by.
